Franken Talks Down Angry Mob



About a dozen tea party activists had staked out Sen. Al Franken's booth, and confronted him loudly when he arrived. But within minutes, he'd turned an unruly crowd into a productive conversation on health care. The discussion went from insurance reform, to the public option, to veterans benefits, to cap and trade. He made a few laugh and even told a touching story that moved a few to tears. A whole lot of common ground was found

Charleston Waterpark Open For Dogs



Does you dog love to swim? Charleston County's Whirlin' Waters Adventure waterpark will open their wave pool and Otter Bay to dogs on Sunday, September 13, 2009 from noon to six.

* Dogs must have all current vaccinations.
* Otter Bay and the wave pool will only be open for dogs. Owners will not be allowed in the water.
* Advance ticket purchase is recommended.
* Admission ticket (not receipt) is required for entry.
* Advance tickets will be mailed if purchased more than 7 days prior to the event. Tickets purchased after that will be available for will call pick-up at the waterpark entrance.
* No refunds or exchanges.
*Charleston County residents contribute to the development of the county park system through property taxes, therefore, a discounted rate is available to them.
